SOCOM Para-Commandos
The U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Para-Commandos are an elite military aerial parachute demonstration team. They perform at air shows across the nation, informing the public about the US Special Operations Command; its mission, and the contributions of more than 70,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and Department of Defense civilians are making across the United States and in over 70 countries around the world.
The Para-Commandos are members and representatives of today’s Special Operations Forces. They are active-duty special operators, such as Army Special Forces, Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, Air Force Combat Controllers and Marine Raiders. The Para-Commandos also have several support personnel, commonly referred to as Special Operations Enablers who come from all four branches of service , and reserve forces as well The Para-Commandos tailor each performance to the individual venue and can perform from as low as 2,000 feet above ground level to as high as 13,500 feet.
Depending on the venue and time of day, the team may jump with flags, smoke, and sparklers (or a combination of both) into the air show or event. The Para-Commandos are proficient in both free fall and canopy formations; and know how to land on time and on target in front of the crowd.
